Sunrooms and Patios
The lure of bringing the comfort of indoor living out under the open skies is growing in popularity everywhere. Where the climate is hot, an overhang over a patio provides shade and respite from heat, where the climate is cold a glass enclosure provides warmth and shelter from inclement weather, and, as is the case in the South Delta area, where the climate is mild, a sunroom, patio or pergola expands your lifestyle to resort living.
Garden rooms are not a new trend. They have been around for over 250 years, as solariums, conservatories, and orangeries. Constructed mainly of glass, they were primarily built for growing fruit that was foreign to England, fruit such as oranges brought in from Northern Africa. The glass structures let in light for growing, warmed by the sun, and shielded fruits and exotic plants from harsh weather.
Over time the conservatory took on different appearances and approaches to indoor/outdoor living. As technology advanced, it became easier and more affordable to tack on a sunroom or patio to a home, and , while a sunrooms are often home to exotic plants and flowers, they are often added to homes for family enjoyment and entertainment.
There is something intuitively appealing to mingling in the outdoors while enjoying the amenities of the indoors. At Janic Construction we build:
